Singer and guitarist Tim Woods’ new release, The Blues Sessions, from Earwig Music just may turn into a classic recording, not necessarily for the music per se, but for the array of artists performing as guests on the album.  The song of choice that will fit well into our market is Castle Rock Boogie.  It is somewhat on the fast side, therefore the song needs to be slowed somewhat. The song was written and originally recorded by Roosevelt Sykes.  Tim, of course, handles the vocals and guitar, but guests on the cut include Aaron Moore on piano who played the black and whites on the original recording by Sykes.  Aaron is one of the survivors of the 1950′s classic boogie-woogie piano styles.  Also performing guitar on the song is Grammy Award and Handy Award nominee John Primer.  John has paid his dues over the years, playing with Willie Dixon’s touring band.  Muddy Waters recruited him as a guitarist and opening act for his shows.  John also toured with Magic Slim & The Teardrops in the 1990′s.  Playing drums on the song is Kenny “Beedy Eyes” Smith, son of the legendary Willie “Big Eyes” Smith.  Kenny has toured with the world and recorded with greats such as Pinetop Perkins, Homesick James, Billy Boy Arnold, Henry Townsend and the late greats Junior Wells and Jimmy Rogers.  Kenny, as one of the world’s best and most-in-demand drummers, has played on more than fifty albums.  Bob Stroger plays bass on the song.  His resume includes recording and touring with many legends of Chicago Blues.  Tim Woods has been singing and playing accoustic and electric guitar for over 25 years, and has long been a fixture in the southwestern Pennsyvania music scene.  When he was 18, Tim’s family moved to Macon, Georgia, where he immersed himself into the music scene, working a a local nightclub promoting and coordinating appearances of national acts.  For the most part of the 2000′s, Tim was a founding member of The Mountain Jam Band.  In the summer of 2005, Tim had the opportunity to meet and spend time with David “Honeyboy” Edwards, Homesick James, Sam Lay and Pinetop Perkins.  So inspired by their soul and sound, he devoted himself to later recording The Blues Sessions, a musical tribute to the legendary masters of the Delta blues
